Patiently gathered reference data about places, served at whatever speed you want.
Almanac is a continuously refreshing cache of Wikidata's place data (Japan today), served fast, whole, and with revision tracking. The underlying data is CC0 and belongs to Wikidata and its contributors; what's offered here is the service — freshness, the change feed, a fatter pipe than polling the source yourself. If access is ever sold, a percentage goes to the Wikimedia Foundation.

Every /v1/places/* route requires an API key
(Authorization: Bearer <key>); keys are issued by
hand, not self-serve.
